About Author:
Humayun Ahmed (1948-2012)
Bangladeshi novelist and dramatist
Born: November 13, 1948 · Netrokona, East Pakistan [now in Netrokona, Bangladesh]
Died: July 19, 2012 · New York City, New York, USA (cancer)
After his debut novel "Nondito Noroke" was released in 1972, Humayun Ahmed gained recognition as a budding author. Subsequently, he demonstrated that he was not lost among the rest. "Shonkhonil Karagar," his subsequent work, was also a big hit with readers. His early novels tended to be family/social dramas. However, he later shown his skill by penning several science fiction and horror/supernatural works. He even made a few well-known characters, such Misir Ali, the incredibly rational individual who believes that everything in his universe can be explained logically, and "Himu," who always wears a yellow punjabi and no sandals.
In 1985, Humayun Ahmed made his television directing debut with the serial Eishob Dinratri. A complex and sensitive family story. That was only the start; he went on to create a ton of TV shows, some of which are still widely watched today. His films are among the rare ones that still draw middle-class audiences to cinemas today. Aguner Poroshmoni (1994) and Dui Duari (2000) were welcome breathers amidst the vulgar and violent films that primarily target the lower working class.
